Responsibilities comprise of:
Superior planning, collection and timely delivery of the lab experiments as per requested via lab handouts and academics
Collection of freshwater, marine and terrestrial specimens for the lab classes
Preparation of reagents and chemicals and setting up the laboratory experiments in the allocated sessions
Ensure and avail calibration, maintenance and standard quality of equipment’s
Organizing and supervision of field trips for the plant and animal biology classes
Custody and help other technicians in keeping inventory and cleanliness in the laboratory and the preparation area at all times
In charge of postgraduate research laboratory, biology preparation room and tissue culture laboratory
Providing technical support to Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and PhD students
Listing of ordering chemicals, glassware and consumables
Other duties assigned by the Senior, Chief Technician or Head of School

Ongoing Master’s of Science research on the topic: Development of mass propagation system for elite varieties of Kava (Piper methysticum). The objectives include;
• To determine that site-specific soil characteristics does affect the presence or absence of Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV).
• To establish a stock of clean plant material (tested negative for CMV) of selected varieties to be used for establishment of kava tissue cultures.
• To improve a micropropagation protocol for the rapid multiplication of the selected kava varieties.
Aided in the designing and erection of the new tissue culture laboratory in the school that would not only suffice my research project but, also enhance the plant physiology and tissue culture research for the PIC’s. Research interests me, I like assisting current post graduate students as it expands my knowledge and not to mention the sampling sites are awesomely adventurous.
